A contingent comprised of Revolution general manager Michael Burns, coach Jay Heaps, and three players are set to make a trip to Lisbon to meet their Portuguese affiliate, Sporting CP next week.

On Wednesday, the club confirmed a report from Portuguese outlet Mais Futebol that detailed the trip, which is scheduled for Sunday.

Joining Burns and Heaps will be midfielders Zachary Herivaux and Donnie Smith, as well as forward Sean Okoli. The trio will train with the Portuguese side from Nov. 29 until Dec. 18 before returning to the United States.

“Sporting are known for their ability to develop young talent,” Burns said in a team release, “and we feel these three players will really benefit from this opportunity to train at a high level during the offseason.”

Okoli made five substitute appearances for the Revolution in 2015, while the only action Herivaux and Smith saw was during the club’s Jun. 17 Open Cup game against the Charlotte Independence.

“They’re three guys that we feel will benefit from this training experience,” said Burns. “They’re three guys that we think have promising futures and careers with us and in MLS.”

The Revolution and Sporting brokered an affiliation agreement in Oct. 2014, and up until recently, the discussions between the clubs had been scant.
